Information Systems in Organizations - This is the capstone course for MIS majors at UH. A key goal of the class is to give students insight into the “real world” of MIS professionals through interactions with local companies and through readings and discussions on MIS management topics. The course is primarily a seminar and includes a variety of learning formats: lectures, student presentations, discussions, and visits to local companies. Student groups work with one of two companies that have volunteered to assist the class and are expected to prepare for visits and to conduct themselves in a professional manner. This course is also designated as writing intensive so a variety of writing, presentation, and small-group activities are used throughout the semester to help improve the students' communication skills. |
